While looking at the Koss HB70 Infrared Stereophones we found several positive aspects as well as a number of drawbacks. The TV headphones are among the top 10 best infrared headphones because they have a decent signal which will carry the audio approximately 20 feet, allowing you to have some distance between you and the transmitter. There is a slight hissing or static noise that we weren’t able to stop, and in our research we found that other users had the same problem. They can be used for home entertainment with a television or a computer as well as in-vehicle entertainment making them extremely versatile and a better option for some users.

Comparable to many other infrared headphones, the Koss HB70 Infrared Headphones work best when within 20 feet of the transmitter. You do need to keep a line of site between the headphones and the transmitter; however, there is an effective area which allows you to move 45 degrees to the right and to the left of the transmitter without losing the signal. As we mentioned above, there is a hissing noise that the headphones make when they are on and we were unable to figure out how to stop it. The hiss affected the ranking of the TV headphones because the overall audio quality is less than we initially thought.

These Koss HB70 Infrared Headphones are very unique in their design. They are the only infrared headphones we reviewed with a head strap that goes behind the head instead of on top. Our main worry with this is that the headphones would get in the way or push on the head awkwardly when your head is resting against something. If you are going to be sitting up at a computer while using the headphones, they may be a better choice. However, many users did mention that they found the headphones uncomfortable and not ideal for relaxing and watching TV.

The Koss customer support team responded to our emails a few weeks after the initial inquiry, so it’s a somewhat slow process. They also offer customer service and technical support through chat and a toll free phone number. Through each of these we were able to get in touch with a representative rather quickly and were able to get each of our questions addressed.
